Oakwood Park Improvements
The Oakwood Park Improvement Ad-hoc Committee was established in December 2019 with the defined role of reporting back and making recommendations to Council with respect to future multi-use park improvements within Oakwood Park. At their March 22, 2022 meeting the Committee agreed upon a five year plan for improvements to Oakwood Park. Council endorsed this five year improvement plan, permitting staff to proceed with year one improvements, which will see a concrete hard surface and new arena boards installed at the rink, funded in part by an Ontario Trillium Foundation Grant of $95,000. Staff will bring forward the remaining four year plan to budget deliberations in the fall which could include various asphalt trails, a new road access and parking area.
Tay Banners4Veterans Program
The goal of this program, also known as the Memorial Banner Program is to bring the names and faces of those who fought for our freedoms to the streets of Tay Township, by displaying their photos on banners that are hung throughout the Township. The criteria for the banner program incorporates individuals who have served in Canada’s military and who had lived in Tay at any point in their lives. Council approved the recommendation from staff to work with the organizers on a trial basis for the 2022 program. The program is scheduled to run from September 15 to November 15, 2022. Cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) Lining Easton Avenue watermain
Council approved the bid for the CIPP Lining Proposal from FER-PAL Construction in the amount of $625,000.00 for the Easton Avenue watermain rehabilitation. CIPP stands for cured-in-place pipe, which is one of several pipe repair technologies that are considered “trenchless”. The liners are inserted into the old watermain once it has been reamed out to remove all buildup in the pipe. The liner material is hardened with hot water or steam and once cured the water services are cut out with a robotic cutter. The work will include the relining of approximately 585m of 150mm diameter watermain, replacement of hydrant laterals and valves, removal and replacement of 150mm diameter gate vales, traffic control and temporary bypass system.
Municipal Office to be closed August 25 at 12:30 p.m. for Staff Appreciation Event
Council approved a Township Staff Appreciate event to be held on Thursday August 25, 2022. The event provides an opportunity to allow for team building activities, and to recognize the many contributions made by staff over the past year. Please note that the Municipal office will close to the public at 12:30 p.m. on August 25, 2022 for the remainder of the day to accommodate this event and will re-open to the public on August 26, 2022 at 8:30 a.m. For emergency service for Water, Wastewater, Roads and Parks during this closure time please call 705-526-5762.
Tay Township meets for regular council meetings on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m.
