Tay Township celebrates grand opening of Patterson Park Pavilion

Tay, Ontario: This afternoon, Tay Township held a grand opening of a new pavilion at Patterson Park in Port McNicoll. Mayor Scott Warnock, members of Council, representatives from area businesses who provided in-kind contributions, and community members were at the park for the ribbon cutting.

The project was inspired by a photo on social media of a former pavilion at Patterson Park. “I read how valuable this structure was to our residents,” said Councillor Sandy Talbot. Through discussions with community members and support from Council, the idea to rebuild a pavilion took life.

Kevin Dedy created the design concept and Dupuis & Ouellet Architectural Design Services produced the drawings. Midland Home Hardware Building Centre supplied the materials and Steve's Bobcat constructed the pavilion. Thanks to in-kind support from local businesses, the $60,000 initially planned for the project was reallocated to improvements to the Tay Shore Trail network with paving of trail sections along First Avenue.

“Thank you to everyone involved,” said Mayor Scott Warnock, “This project is an excellent example of how community partnerships help make Tay a vibrant place to be.”

Patterson Park stretches 14 acres along the southern shore of Georgian Bay. The park features a public beach, playground, public washrooms, parking, and picnic tables.
