Tay Township Hosts MPP Dunlop and Local Mayors for Echo Funding Announcement
Tay, Ontario: Mayor Ted Walker welcomed MPP Jill Dunlop, County of Simcoe Warden George Cornell, Mayor of Midland Stewart Strathearn and Mayor of Penetanguishene Doug Leroux to the Tay Community Rink this morning for a socially distanced Echo Funding Announcement.
The government is providing up to $1.05 billion in combined federal-provincial funding through the new COVID-19 Resilience Infrastructure Stream to build or renovate health and safety related projects in long-term care, education and municipalities.
MPP Dunlop announced that Tay Township is eligible to receive $177,315 from the I.C.I.P COVID-19 Resilience Infrastructure Stream, towards projects responding to COVID-19 impacts on its residents and community at large.
In the coming weeks Council will be discussing exactly what projects Tay will apply for to use the $177,315 of I.C.I.P funding. Potential projects for discussion by Council include enhancing the change-room facilities at the Tay Community Rink, enhancements to Tay’s widely acclaimed active transportation network, and refurbishment of some existing trail bridges. Staff will report to Council on options in the coming weeks in order to meet the funding application deadlines of late December and early January.
On behalf of Mayor Walker, Council, and the residents of Tay we thank MPP Dunlop for delivering this great news.
