Tay Township launches Covid-Friendly Toys for Tickets Campaign
Tay, Ontario: Tay Township kicks off its Toys for Tickets campaign with a COVID-friendly twist.
For the past 5 years the toys for tickets campaign has invited drivers who receive a parking ticket (with the exception of accessible parking violations) between November 15 and December 15 to pay the fine by donating a new unwrapped toy or non-perishable food item of equal or greater value.
This year the Townships is continuing the program, however because of COVID rather than collect toys/food donations the Township will be purchasing toys and food for local charities and the St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank with the money collected from parking tickets between November 15 and December 15.
“The Toys for Tickets Campaign has been a great support to our community, we won’t let the pandemic stop us from giving back” said Mayor Ted Walker.
