Tay Township lifts outdoor watering ban

Tay, Ontario: Tay Township has lifted the outdoor watering ban put in place on May 31 effective immediately. As a result of recent rain events lowering the demand for municipal water and water production capacity impacting work being completed ahead of schedule, the municipality is able to lift the outdoor watering ban ahead of the originally anticipated date of June 22.

Work on capacity upgrades at the Tay Area Water Treatment Plant started in the fall of 2020, following the 2020 summer season. More information about this project is available at tay.ca/water.

Municipal water users are reminded of the year-round outdoor watering regulations in place and available for review at tay.ca/By-Laws. In particular, outdoor watering is only permitted between 7-9 a.m. and 7-9 p.m. on odd or even calendar days that correspond with your odd or even street address number.

Outdoor watering represents a significant portion of the Township’s water demand during the summer months and contributes to the need for costly water production infrastructure capacity. Municipal Law Enforcement Officers will be on duty throughout the summer to educate property owners on the Township’s outdoor watering regulations and to take enforcement action when necessary.

Tay Township is committed to delivering responsive and cost-effective municipal services and infrastructure that provide for the long-term economic, social and environmental well-being of its residents and community.
