Update: Reduced Load Restrictions Lifting April 17, 2024

Due to improving weather and road conditions the reduced load restrictions are ending early this year. Starting April 17, 2024 the reduced load (half load) restriction will be lifted.
Thank you to the excellent work by the Township of Oro-Medonte and the County of Simcoe staff for monitoring and working with the Ontario Good Roads Association (OGRA) to help get this lifted early.

In accordance with the Township of Tay By-law 2014-27 and Section 122 of the Highway Traffic Act, reduced loads are in effect in spring. The reduced load (half load) restriction will be in effect from March 1 to April 30, with the possibility of extension into May at the Township’s discretion. As shown on the Restricted Load Exemptions map, this applies to all roads in Tay except:
- Triple Bay Road (Highway 12 to Talbot Street)
- Gratrix Road (Highway 12 to Fesserton Side Road)
- Park Street (Highway 12 to Richard Street)
- Industrial Road (Park Street to East Limit)
- Mill Road (Industrial Road to North Limit)
- Richard Street (Park Street to Albert Street)
- Albert Street (Richard Street to William Street)
- William Street (Albert Street to Highway 12)
- Talbot Street (Triple Bay Road to Highway 12)
As per the Highway Traffic Act, during a reduced load period, no commercial motor vehicle or trailer shall be operated or drawn upon any designated highway where the weight upon an axle exceeds 5,000 kilograms.
