The Culture Alliance in the Heart of Georgian Bay is comprised of The Town of Midland, The Town of Penetanguishene, The Township of Tiny and the Township of Tay. Together we are celebrating, fostering, promoting and leveraging cultural resources in the Heart of Georgian Bay, with a view to growing a prosperous year-round creative economy, and enhancing the quality of life and cultural awareness for all residents.
Huronia Players is a community theatre group based in Midland, Ontario. They provide education and workshops for theatre arts and produce three major productions each year at the intimate 120 seat theatre in the Midland Cultural Centre.
Nestled within Discovery Harbour on the shores of Georgian Bay in Penetanguishene, the King's Wharf Theatre is flanked by majestic tall ships and the historic buildings of a 19th century British naval and military base.
The Midland Cultural Centre is the focal point for culture activities in the Heart of Georgian Bay. The MCC is a community-based, volunteer driven facility where everyone can be involved in artistic and cultural pursuits as a participant or audience member.
For over 25 years, Quest Art School + Gallery has been committed to bringing arts and culture to the north Simcoe community.
The Tay Township Horticulture Committee celebrated the inclusion of an indigenous area in the garden located at the Municipal office, 450 Park Street in Victoria Harbour on Monday, June 24, 2024.
The community came together to witness and celebrate this important addition, which reflects a deep commitment to honouring and preserving the cultural heritage of the region.
Recently installed features include a symbolic lighthouse, as well as a wood feature paying tribute to the Township's historic ties to the lumber industry. These elements will be complemented by plantings of birch, cedar, sweetgrass, sage, and tobacco, symbolizing a profound connection to the Indigenous lands upon which our community thrives.
The "Do You Remember When?" video series organized by the Culture Alliance, was a community initiative focused on celebrating local history and culture. It featured storytelling, discussions, and presentations that encouraged residents to share their memories and experiences. The series aimed to foster a sense of connection and nostalgia, highlighting significant events, places, and figures from Tay Township's past, while promoting community engagement and appreciation for the region's heritage.
