The Martyrs’ Shrine is the National Shrine to the Canadian Martyrs. This holy and historic site honours the eight Jesuit Saints who lived, worked, and died here over 350 years ago. At the Martyrs’ Shrine pilgrims of all faiths and cultures will be renewed in faith, hope and love, and inspired to continue the mission of this sacred place where saints walked.

Sainte-Marie among the Hurons was the headquarters for the French Jesuit Mission to the Huron Wendat people. In 1639, the Jesuits, along with French lay workers, began construction of a fenced community that included barracks, a church, workshops, residences, and a sheltered area for Native visitors. After extensive archaeological and historical research, Sainte-Marie among the Hurons is now recreated on its original site, where the mission’s compelling story is brought to life. Visitors get a unique opportunity to see the earliest Canadian pioneer life, through guided or self-guided visits and special events.

Tay Township has two National Historic Sites of Canada of significant heritage value. These sites are protected under the Historic Sites and Monuments Act by the Federal Government.

The Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre is located on 3,000 acres of wetlands, fen and forest in Tay Township. The Centre includes an amphibian and reptile display hall, hiking, biking and skiing trails, canoeing and kayaking routes, an observation tower and boardwalks, birds of prey display, education classroom, event facilities, gift shop and naturalists on staff.
